Taariq Bousaleh

Taariq Bousaleh holds a Master of Environmental and Business Management, Diploma of Education and a Bachelor of Science with a major in Chemistry, from the University of Newcastle. This integration of business management with teaching has provided a solid platform for environmental consulting, founded on a deep rooted understanding of complex scientific principles and a strong passion for environmental improvement. His ongoing pursuit for knowledge has currently led him to undertake further studies at the University of Newcastle through a Masters in Engineering Science, with a focus on energy systems. During the course of his career, Taariq has successfully managed a team of environmental consultants responsible for over 135 environmental audits and infrastructure upgrades all over NSW. His knowledge and experience lie in the areas of stakeholder consultation, water and energy auditing, environmental project and contractor management, radiochemistry, implementation of ISO 14001 accredited environmental management systems, environmental training and trend analysis of monitoring data.

As an Environmental Co-ordinator at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, Taariq worked on revision and implementation of changes to the ISO 14001 accredited Environmental Management System, covering the National Medical Cyclotron and the Lucas Heights new OPAL (Open Pool Australian Light-water) reactor. He undertook numerous site specific projects including radio-nuclide monitoring of air and water, upgrade of the trade-waste treatment facilities, implemented several procedural upgrades to nuclear imaging and research isotope production methods (to significantly reduce the environmental impact of the manufacturing processes) and developed training and other environmental procedural documents.

With a personal interest in communication theories and neuro-linguistic psychology, Taariq has undertaken several accredited communication, performance coaching and mentoring training programs. Being repeatedly elected as the Occupational Health and Safety Representative provided him with significant training and experience in OH&S management systems and legislative requirements. Coupled with his significant experience with quality and environmental management systems, Taariq gained early insights into the managerial benefits of deploying integrated management systems, which he now helps roll out through the INTELEX integrated management program.

Taariq’s strong community focus also manifests through volunteer work, such as with the Center for Sustainability Leadership, where he has contributed to the renowned “How to change the world” manual. Concurrent work with the International Leadership Experience and Development Program and the State Emergency Service is leading him towards a Certificate IV in Public Safety (operations).
