How does quality management fit into your organisation?

Graham A Brown & Associates are experienced in the auditing and development of quality management systems (QMS) to the international standard ISO 9001 Quality management systems—Requirements. Depending on the industry or government agency’s activities, considerable interpretation is often required to establish the organisation’s scope, its interested parties and its customers, including internal customers requiring a quality controlled product or component from another part of the organisation. We have assisted management of a number of organisations through interpretation of the standard and mentoring of quality management systems coordinators.

The international standard ISO 9001 was revised and published in September 2015 as ISO 9001:2015 Quality management systems – Requirements. It is required that organisations certified to ISO 9001:2008 transition to ISO 9001:2015 no later than September 2018. A number of important changes were introduced. Management needs to be trained in the requirements of the revised standard and its implementation and maintenance. The enhanced role of top management requires demonstration of leadership and commitment, such as being accountable for the effectiveness of the QMS, ensuring resources are available, promoting continual improvement, and ensuring that the quality policy and objectives are in place and are consistent with the goals of the organization and the MS.

Organisations are required to identify any internal and external issues that may impact their QMS’s ability to deliver its intended results. They also have to understand the needs and expectations of ‘interested parties’ including those individuals and organisations that perceive that they are affected by the organisation’s decisions or activities. Organisations are required to take action to address any risks or opportunities (a new requirement) that may impact either positively or negatively their QMS’s ability to deliver its intended outcomes, or that could have an impact on customer satisfaction or interested parties.

  • Auditing – identifying gaps in your quality system and conducting site-based gap analyses and audits
  • Intelex – Provision of Intelex quality management software solutions
  • Risk registers – pinpointing risks and opportunities associated with the QMS
  • Writing policies and procedures – using your existing policies & procedures or starting from scratch to develop effective policies
  • Certification – enabling certification to international standards such as ISO 9001:2015
  • Staff training – giving all levels of staff guidance and tools through in-house sessions and Intelex software training programs
  • Quality Management Systems – we develop, or support our clients to develop, quality management systems including those based on the Intelex quality management software solution.
