Allan is a senior consultant at Graham A Brown & Associates. He has over 27 years’ experience in workplace safety, training, industrial relations and staff management, investigations, fraud prevention, audits, training and emergency planning. Allan has also dealt extensively with legislative process and government authorities, and can apply his broad understanding of the law in his day-to-day work.
Allan is certified as an RABQSA International Health Safety & Environment Principal Auditor, and has administered corporate internal audits such as the Heavy Duty Driver Fatigue Management System.
Prior to joining Graham A Brown & Associates, Allan spent five years working as an OHS consultant. During this time he applied his expertise to a broad range of areas including OHS safe systems, risk management, audits, investigations, training, emergency planning, fraud prevention, consultation, hazardous substances, dangerous goods, high risk plant, working environment, safety culture, management responsibility, legislation, and workers compensation and injury management.
Before consulting, Allan held a position at WorkCover NSW. There he managed project officers and administration staff to develop policy that related to intervention and compliance with the OHS Act. Allan was also responsible for planning programs and projects that would address the Occupational Health and Safety Division’s priorities. In addition, he managed the Licensing Branch as well as providing program support and advice on OHS, workers compensation and injury management practices.
Allan’s previous experience includes his role as Chief Inspector at Victoria’s Department of Labour where he oversaw lifts, boilers, pressure vessels and dangerous goods. This occurred during a period of change when Victoria’s OH&S legislation moved from prescriptive to performance-based.
Allan has worked with high-profile clients including the Borg Group of Companies, One Steel, Gloucester Coal and Hunter Water.
